This 14-day route covers Karakalpakstan, Khiva, Bukhara, Samarkand, the Fergana Valley, and Tashkent. It combines major heritage sites with stays in smaller communities.

With a French-speaking guide, you visit key sites and spend time with local families and artisans.

Your programme is of course fully customizable:

Day 1 — Arrival & Khiva

Flight from Lyon or Paris to Urgench (via Istanbul or Tashkent). Arrival at Urgench airport, then transfer to Khiva. Visit to the museum city located in the heart of an oasis, built with rammed earth and mud bricks. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 — Khiva & Nurillabay Complex

Continue visiting Khiva in the morning. Lunch, then visit to the brand-new Nurillabay complex: Khorezm history museum and art exhibition. Departure for Nukus. Overnight in a guesthouse.

Day 3 — The Louvre of the Desert & Fortresses

Visit to the Savitsky Museum, nicknamed the 'Louvre of the Desert', housing the incredible collection of over 80,000 paintings saved by Igor Savitsky from Stalinist censorship. Overnight with a camel-herder family in Kungrad.

Day 4 — Desert Fortresses & Village Encounters

Visit to the desert fortresses. Encounters with farmers and an Uzbek family. Preparation of the national dish plov with them, a stroll along the Amu Darya, visit to a lake and surrounding farmland. Overnight with a local family.

Day 5 — Desert Sunrise

Early morning departure to admire a sunrise in the Uzbek desert. Stops and visits along the route (460 km). Arrival in Bukhara in the evening. Overnight in a family hotel.

Day 6 — Historic Bukhara

Visit to the old city of Bukhara: its mausoleums and the Ark Citadel. Cultural and historical discoveries. Walking tours and exploration of the city. Overnight in a family hotel.

Day 7 — Countryside & Sacred Sites

Morning excursion from Bukhara to discover the surrounding countryside. Visits to sacred sites (Naqshbandi), the last emir's summer residence (Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa), and the unique Chor-Minor madrasa. Overnight in a family hotel.

Day 8 — Tajik Village of Sentob

Departure from Bukhara to Sentob (3h, 270 km), a charming Tajik village. Nestled in a true haven of greenery amid orchards, this is the ideal place to wander and rest. Meet your host family, share a meal and spend the night with them.

Day 9 — Hiking & Nature

Hiking according to your wishes: from a short stroll to a several-hour trek, you choose the route that suits you to discover the surroundings (fortress, archaeological site, flora and fauna). Possible excursion to a waterfall and its natural pools. Overnight in a guesthouse.

Day 10 — Samarkand, Timurid Capital

Departure to Samarkand (220 km, 3h). Discover the capital of the Timurid Empire: Ulugh Beg Observatory, bazaar, madrasas. Sound-and-light show in the evening on the great Registan square. Overnight at hotel or guesthouse.

Day 11 — Depths of Samarkand

Visit to historic buildings: Gur-e-Amir mausoleum (Tamerlane's tomb), Bibi-Khanym mosque, Shah-i-Zinda necropolis. Silk weaving workshop. Free or guided strolls in Samarkand. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12 — Fergana Valley

Road to the Fergana Valley, the breadbasket of Uzbekistan. Discover Margilan and its famous Atlas silk workshops. Meetings with silk weaver artisans. Overnight in Fergana.

Tashkent

Day 13 — Tashkent, Modern Capital

Train to Tashkent (3h) in the morning. Visit to the modern city then the old city: mausoleums, mosques and squares. Free or guided strolls, free time. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 14 — Grand Bazaar & Departure

Discovery of the great Chorsu bazaar, one of the most beautiful in Central Asia. Last purchases and souvenirs. Transfer to the airport for the return flight.
